The San Francisco 49ers are no strangers to injuries. And lately, neither is Mike Evans.
That was the case for the Niners receiver on “Monday Night Football,” who left with his coaches before halftime in Week 6. The ESPN broadcast showed footage of Evans stretching his lower body earlier in the game and Evans fell after a catch late in the first half.
Evans was seen stretching as he headed to the locker room, walking with a noticeable limp.
The 33-year-old was dealing with a rib and Achilles injury heading into Week 6. He logged no practice time, but was still able to dress Monday night.
He signed a three-year, $42 million contract with San Francisco in free agency this offseason.
Here’s the last one.
Mike Evans injury update
Evans has a sore Achilles tendon, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
The coach noted that he just acted out during the game and it was the same thing that had been bothering him all week. Shanahan doesn’t think this will require additional testing.
The receiver has been ruled out with an Achilles injury, the 49ers announced, after initially being listed as questionable for return.
He left late in the first half after collecting a pass from Brock Purdy, limping to the locker room.
While it would be a good sign if the veteran returned, the score suggests San Francisco may choose to be cautious with its star receiver.

A once-promising front office for San Francisco looks barren if Evans can’t return. Deebo Samuel is out, while Christian Kirk, Ricky Pearsall, Demarcus Robinson and De’Zhaun Stribling are all on injured reserve.
What happened to Mike Evans?
Evans was injured after a catch late in the first half. It was later revealed to be an Achilles injury for the veteran receiver, the same issue that called his Week 6 status into question before “Monday Night Football.”
How long has Mike Evans been out?
Evans has no timetable for a return.
Since Shanahan noted it was the same issue that almost kept him out during Week 6, there’s a chance Evans returns in Week 7.
A lot will depend on the upcoming week of practice and how he feels before the team’s next game.
The coach said he would trust Evans if the receiver said he was ready to go next week.
Notably, the 49ers have a bye after Week 7, meaning Evans could benefit from an extended break if he remains out of action against the Atlanta Falcons.
This story will be updated when new information becomes available.
