The 49ers will lose several players when they face the Falcons on Sunday.
San Francisco has ruled out receiver Mike Evans (Achilles), defensive lineman Nick Bosa (knee/calf), receiver Deebo Samuel (hamstring), linebacker Garret Wallow (hamstring), linebacker Luke Gifford (groin) and safety Marques Sigle (ankle).
The loss of Evans is significant for the competition, as he leads the team with 420 receiving yards and is No. 2 on the club with 27 catches so far in 2026.
Via several reporters, Shanahan noted that Bosa was probably a little too optimistic when he was aiming for his return to play a few weeks ago. But now he’ll have more time to heal, as the 49ers have a Week 8 bye.
Although wide receiver Christian Kirk (calf) is technically one of three players questionable for the contest, Shanahan told reporters the team plans to activate him for the game.
Defensive back Upton Stout (shoulder) and safety Siran Neal (knee) are also questionable.
