Nancy Guthrie investigators provide update on kidnapping case

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona has provided an update on its investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.

“The Nancy Guthrie Task Force continues to work with our laboratories in hopes of furthering our DNA analysis in this investigation,” Sheriff Chris Nanos said in a statement released Friday evening.

“Earlier this month, investigators traveled to Florida to meet with lab scientists to see what more could be done to move this case forward,” Nanos added.

“A number of ideas have been discussed and we continue to work with all of our partners to resolve this matter.”

The sheriff concluded his statement by encouraging the public to contribute to the case by sending in tips.

“No clue is too small. Even the smallest piece of information could be vital to this investigation,” he said.

Last month, Pima County investigators said they were investigating the discovery of a “new possible ransom demand” linked to the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother.

“The PCSD/FBI Guthrie Task Force was recently informed of a new possible ransom demand related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation,” the Sheriff’s Department wrote in a statement on X on September 28.

“Investigators are also aware of social media comments regarding the note and are investigating the information further to determine its credibility,” the statement added.

However, the next day, authorities issued a follow-up statement, saying the “possible ransom text message” related to the case was “not credible.”

Nancy, 84, was first reported missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona on February 1.

Shortly afterward, the FBI released terrifying home security camera photos of an armed, masked person outside Nancy’s door the night she disappeared.

In June, a former FBI agent claimed investigators were closing in on the man seen on Nancy’s door camera.

However, no suspects have been arrested for Nancy’s kidnapping, despite receiving several ransom demands.

Although her mother is still missing, Savannah, 54, returned to work at “Today” in April.
