The Indianapolis Colts’ asking price for star running back Jonathan Taylor on the trade market has reportedly been revealed.
According to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, Taylor would cost a second-round pick and “maybe more” for a trade to be finalized.
ESPN’s Stephen Holder previously reported that “several teams” were showing interest in the 27-year-old ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline.
The Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos are among the teams expected to consider pursuing Taylor, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Jonathan Jones of The Athletic also listed the New York Giants as potential suitors at running back.
While there is certainly a market for Taylor, it remains to be seen if the Colts are interested in trading him. Schefter reported on the Pat McAfee Show Tuesday that Indianapolis would prefer to trade other players before Taylor.
“They don’t want to trade Jonathan Taylor, which doesn’t mean they won’t trade him, but I don’t think they want to, and today I would say they don’t,” Schefter said (3:40). “But there are other players that I think will end up moving here. And I think the players you’re looking at would be DeForest Buckner, Josh Downs, Grover Stewart on the defensive line.”
Indianapolis has failed to live up to expectations this season, going just 2-5 in seven weeks.
The Colts fired general manager Chris Ballard on Oct. 19, with head coach Shane Steichen reportedly on the hot seat.
The team has already started selling ahead of the deadline, as Schefter and Rapoport reported that Indianapolis traded star guard Quenton Nelson to the Seahawks on Tuesday.
The Colts are also “actively shopping” defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Despite Indianapolis’ overall struggles this year, Taylor has been a bright spot.
The three-time Pro Bowler ranks 5th in the NFL with 587 rushing yards this season, while his eight rushing touchdowns are tied for first in the league. He also made his presence felt as part of the Colts passing attack, hauling in 17 receptions for 178 yards.
If an opposing organization is willing to part with a Day 2 pick as well as additional draft capital, a change of scenery for Taylor could be on the horizon.
