At least 1,481 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since last year’s “ceasefire,” according to Gaza’s health ministry.
At least eight people, including an eight-year-old girl, have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza, according to medical sources, a year after the US-backed “ceasefire” took effect – “in name only”.
Shahd Abdul-Razzaq al-Najjar, 8, was killed on Saturday by an Israeli quadcopter drone in the al-Jawazat neighborhood west of Gaza City, according to an ambulance and emergency source speaking to Al Jazeera.

In the same area of Gaza City, four people were killed and several injured in another Israeli bombing near the Haider Abdel Shafi roundabout, the city’s al-Shifa hospital said.
Another Palestinian was killed in an Israeli drone attack in the Tuffah neighborhood, northeast of Gaza City, the hospital said.
Another person killed in northern Gaza Strip; and in the southern town of Khan Younis, a woman died from injuries sustained in an Israeli attack earlier Saturday.

Also on Saturday, the enclave’s Health Ministry said at least 1,481 Palestinians had been killed and 5,254 injured since the so-called ceasefire took effect on October 10 last year.
Israel’s genocidal war against Gaza has killed at least 74,370 people and injured 175,371 since October 7, 2023, the ministry added.
Over the past 24 hours, Israeli attacks have killed at least nine people and injured 65 others, the statement said, adding that one more person died from injuries sustained during the previous Israeli assault.
Al Jazeera’s Ibrahim al-Khalili, covering the site of a drone strike west of Gaza City on Saturday, said the attack highlights the continuing danger faced by Palestinians living in the enclave despite the so-called “ceasefire”, concluded on October 10, 2025.
“The ceasefire remains in force on paper, but on the ground, the threat against civilians has not disappeared,” he said.
From Deir el-Balah in Gaza, Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum said the “ceasefire” had only increased uncertainty in the enclave.
“The pace of the genocide has not changed… its intensity has fluctuated, but the danger has not disappeared,” he said. “That’s why people think it has more consequences, well beyond the immediate loss of life.”
Ceasefire “in name only”
On Friday, more than 100 humanitarian, human rights and civil society organizations said in a joint statement that the ceasefire in Gaza exists in name only.
“The ceasefire exists in name only, with Israeli forces continuing to kill and injure Palestinians on a daily basis and restrictions on aid, equipment and reconstruction materials preventing families from recovering,” the statement said.
In the occupied West Bank, at least 12 Israeli settler pogroms were recorded on Saturday morning, according to the Wall Colonization and Resistance Commission.
Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian farmers by beating them, pepper spraying them, stealing their belongings and attacking their homes, the Wafa news agency reported. They also arrested several Palestinians during the attacks with the help of Israeli military forces.
In the governorates of Ramallah and El-Bireh, settlers, accompanied by the army, forced farmers to leave their land and threatened them not to return. Two farmers were beaten and pepper sprayed, while settlers stole a vehicle and their phones.
