Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd announce breakup, reveal split happened before WNBA season

Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd are no longer a couple.

In the latest episode of Fudd’s podcast with Bueckers as guest (starts at 6:38), the Dallas Wings teammates announced their separation and said the breakup happened more than a year ago before Fudd was selected No. 1 in the 2026 WNBA draft.

Bueckers and Fudd, who were also teammates for four seasons at Connecticut from 2021-25, made their relationship public in 2025 when Bueckers appeared on the show WAG Talk on TikTok.

After Fudd was drafted by the Wings in April, Bueckers spoke at the team’s media day about the possibility of the two of them separating their personal relationship from being teammates on the field:

“Azzi and I have always been the most professional. We have always behaved as such and we have never let anything that happens off the field reflect on the field. This is what we continue to do. Azzi and I are not new to this field. We have been doing this for a long time. We have countless representatives in this field. We have a lot of experience in this field, so we will continue to use this experience to present ourselves and be professionals, excellent teammates, great leaders, the hardest workers, and continuing to show up and do our job and help the Dallas Wings win basketball games.”

Bueckers was Dallas’ No. 1 pick in the 2025 draft. They are the first pair of college teammates to be top picks in the WNBA draft since another UConn duo, Tina Charles in 2010 and Maya Moore in 2011.

The Wings won a franchise-record 27 games during the 2026 regular season and made the playoffs for the first time in three years. They lost in the first round to the eventual champion Golden State Valkyries.

Bueckers made the All-Star team for the second year in a row. Fudd ranked fourth among all rookies with 13.1 points per game and shot 39.7 percent from three.
