The United Kingdom has “strong indications” that Iran is involved in the alleged plan to attack the Fairford military base, used by the United States to carry out bombing attacks against Iran, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said in an interview with the BBC on Wednesday.
“There is every indication that Iran played a role in what happened over the weekend at the Royal Air Force base in Fairford, but this obviously remains an ongoing, complex and serious police investigation,” the British leader said.

Tehran on Monday denied any involvement in this alleged attack plan, reacting to press reports linking Iran to the incident.
Five men aged around 20 who live in London were arrested on Sunday near the Fairford base in the west of the country. Suspected of planning an attack, they were questioned the next day by British police and then released on bail.
The Fairford base has been used for decades by the United States as a forward base for its operations in the Middle East. It has notably been used in recent months by American army bombers to attack Iran.

Andy Burnham said Britain was working closely with the United States on the issue.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said earlier this week that a “foreign actor” was involved in the planned attack.
