Play Store adding a “personal library” to access your ambiance-coded apps

Google today announced a series of updates to the Play Store covering mood coding, game discovery, social features and more.

The biggest update is Google Play’s adoption of ambiance-coded Android apps. Since May, Google AI Studio lets you build Android apps and quickly deploy them to your phone using ADB.

Google is now going further by allowing you to “launch personal apps on your own device” via the Play Store. A “Your Personal Library” section lets you access apps across multiple devices for an easy restore and install experience. This rollout begins today in the United States and other select markets.

The Play Store will soon allow you to share your apps privately with selected users. These generated Android apps are kept “secure, private, and separate from the public store catalog.” It is intended for small-scale sharing, with these applications subject to security review.

In the future, Google Play will allow you to “upgrade to a professional developer account with the same trust and safety reviews and high quality standards.”

Game Finder is the next big update and starts with your “gamer DNA”. This is an “analysis of how you play and the preferences you have shared.” You can specify “games, genres, mechanics, and more to tweak.” Gamer DNA will allow you to “easily find games that suit your tastes”. It is initially rolling out in the United States, with other markets coming soon.

Plus, find out how players with similar gaming DNA interact with a title, find out how many people you follow play it, read user review summaries, and find out which games are trending and why.

Added to this will be game playlists that will allow you to select and soon share a collection of titles.

The Play Store boosts social competitions with Sprints, or “48-hour high-energy micro-challenges” that involve facing off against groups of two to five players for “fast-paced contests.” The Sidekick in-game overlay also adds “30-second playback” clips for sharing.

Elsewhere, Google Play is expanding sports topic pages that display live scores and streaming apps compatible with the Premier League, Champions League, La Liga, Liga MX and Major League Soccer. Ask Play can now generate app comparisons that highlight “key differences and user sentiment.”
