The Commander-in-Chief’s propensity for attending sporting events almost resulted in his attendance at another NFL game. But this is ultimately not the case.
On Tuesday, CNN’s Kristen Holmes reported that President Trump was should attend the Week 6 matchup between the Steelers and Buccaneers in Tampa. Later in the day, she reported that Trump I wouldn’t make the trip.
This would have been the third NFL game Trump has attended during his current term. He was present during Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans between the Chiefs and the Eagles. Last year, he attended a Lions-Commanders game in Maryland, making him the first sitting president to attend a regular-season game in nearly 50 years.
Two years ago, in the weeks leading up to the election that resulted in his second term, Trump attended a game between the Jets and Steelers on Sunday night.
It remains to be seen whether he will appear at an NFL game before the midterm elections, which are in 20 days. Commanders are currently scheduled to host the Eagles on Sunday, November 1, two days before in-person voting officially opens.
