Prince William ‘tried to drag’ Travis Kelce out of his selfie with Taylor Swift.
In playful comments during his surprise appearance Friday on “The Graham Norton Show,” the future monarch, 44, recalled trying to get the Kansas City Chiefs out of his now-viral snapshot with his kids and Swift during the London stop of his Eras tour in June 2024.
“Travis kept coming back and I couldn’t understand why he kept coming back,” he joked. “I was trying to get him out, so it was just me, Taylor and the kids!”
The selfie, which was ultimately shared on the pop icon’s Instagram account, featured the singer in the front, with a beaming Prince William and her two eldest children – Prince George, now 13, and Princess Charlotte, now 11 – snuggled up next to her.
Near the back of the lineup is Kelce, also sporting a big smile for the photo. He appeared to place his right hand on Prince William’s back as they posed.
William ultimately succeeded, as another selfie featured just the “Cruel Summer” singer, Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte laughing at the camera.
“Happy birthday M8! London shows are off to a great start 🇬🇧🇺🇸🤝,” Swift captioned the photo that included Kelce, referencing William’s birthday.
That evening, a fan filmed the father of three dancing in the stands to the singer’s hit “Shake it Off.”
As it turns out, the group photo marked a big moment in Swift and Kelce’s relationship, as it was the first time she posted the NFL star on her Instagram page — a fact the Prince of Wales missed.
“I wasn’t aware (of the importance of the selfie) until recently,” he admitted on “The Graham Norton Show.” “I didn’t appreciate the importance of it.”
Swift and Kelce got engaged in August 2025 and tied the knot in a star-studded wedding at New York’s Madison Square Garden in July.
Although speculation abounded that Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton would attend the nuptials, they ultimately did not.
In July, Prince William and Kelce revisited the encounter during the future monarch’s appearance on the athlete’s “New Heights” podcast.
“It was honestly one of the coolest moments ever, meeting you and the little ones that day,” Travis gushed of the reunion, which was also attended by his brother and podcast co-host Jason Kelce.
