Dear Eric: I’ve been friends with a wonderfully eccentric woman for decades. We have known each other since we were very young. I frequently invite him to various family events, especially on holidays, like Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, as those tend to be big celebrations in my family.
Unfortunately, over the last couple of years, my family got tired of me including it and asked me not to include it in the future. She is friendly and gregarious, but very, very loud and boisterous to say the least. She doesn’t seem to recognize it either, and no correction works, at least not for very long.
