Apple TV and Legendary Television are currently in talks for a third season of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” but with some major changes.
According to a person with knowledge of the situation, season 3 of the series would be led by a new showrunner and new writers, and would feature new Titans from Legendary’s Monsterverse. It is not yet known whether this would mean that the characters from the first two seasons would not continue into the third. Sources say several people have been approached to potentially take over as director of the series.
The series initially debuted on Apple TV in 2023, and the second season will launch in February 2026.
However, the spinoff series is still in the works starring Wyatt Russell as Colonel Lee Shaw. This show will follow Shaw on a mission in 1984 as he tries to stop the Soviets from unleashing a devastating new Titan.
Chris Black and Matt Faction originally created “Monarch,” with Black serving as showrunner and executive producer of Season 2. Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures also serve as executive producers on the series, with Jen Roskind, Matt Shakman, Lawrence Trilling and Andrew Colville serving as executive producers of Season 2. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita serve as executive producers on behalf of Toho Co., Ltd., the owner of the Godzilla character.
Harold will serve as showrunner on the spinoff series, with Harold also developing several series in the world of the Legendary Monsterverse. Besides Russell, the cast includes Millie Brady, Pilou Asbaek, Corey Stoll, Ralph Ineson, Nyasha Hatendi, Connie Nielsen and Stana Katic.
