Report: Jay-Z Selects Jay-Z to Do Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show

For each of the last two Super Bowls, the NFL announced the halftime performer in September. As October enters the homestretch, no announcements have been made regarding Super Bowl LXI in Los Angeles.

Tuesday, Dave Brooks of Puck reported that Jay-Z, who produces the annual show, chose himself to do the honors of the next Super Bowl.

According to the report, Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus were also considered.

The NFL first hired Jay-Z in 2019 to produce the Super Bowl halftime show, with a renewal in 2024. The deal reportedly brings in $5 million annually.

Brooks notes that Jay-Z could make the announcement this weekend, when he plays two concerts at SoFi Stadium, the site of the next Super Bowl. There would probably be some sort of big splash in conjunction with ESPN/ABC airing the Super Bowl.
