UPDATE: Former professional wrestler Ric Flair is reassuring fans that he is focused on “healing and recovery” as he recovers from a fall in Florida yesterday.
In the new update, Flair, wearing an eye patch, thanks concerned fans and the staff and doctors at Tampa General Hospital “who put up with me until 4:30 in the morning.”
“I appreciate and thank you all and thank you for everything you have done for me! I am focused on my healing and recovery right now. Everything will be okay!”
The retired WWE icon was hospitalized yesterday after falling outside a Tampa restaurant. The incident itself came just hours after the 77-year-old former wrestler canceled an appearance in Seattle due to a blood clot in his leg.
Flair’s daughter, Charlotte Flair, provided an update on her father’s condition last night, posting on
The ex-wrestler’s accident was first reported by TMZ, which published photos Friday of Flair on the ground surrounded by medical personnel and also being transported in an ambulance. The outlet reported that Flair was “bleeding profusely” and appeared to have cut his head and eye in the fall.
Earlier yesterday, Flair posted an Instagram message apologizing to fans attending the Washington State Horror Con in Seattle.
“Unfortunately, I am suffering from a blood clot in my leg and my doctors have limited my trip to 3-4 hours. Seattle is outside of that range and, as disappointed as I am, I have to prioritize my health and recovery. Blood clots are extremely serious and can be life-threatening. We saw this recently with Jalen Hurts and the complications related to blood clots in his lungs. This reminds us that it is not not something to take lightly and that I must follow medical advice.”
Flair continued, noting that he was scheduled to undergo a procedure on the affected vein, which his doctors said would clear the way for the trip. “I look forward to being healthy and seeing you all on the road.” »
Flair, full name Richard Morgan Fliehr, is considered one of the most successful WWE professional wrestlers of all time, with a career spanning 50 years and at least 16 championships. He retired from active wrestling in 2022.
