Ricki Lake has admitted to feeling a little judged by her friend Rosie O’Donnell after her 2024 facelift.

During an episode of “The Weekend View” that she co-hosted, the 58-year-old actress shared that she chose to get a makeover after losing “40 pounds naturally without using pharmaceuticals,” saying “we went south.”

“I wasn’t trying to reverse time and look like I was 20,” she explained. “I have my natural gray hair. I really own my age and I love the age I am.”

Although she was happy with how her procedure went, Lake explained that not everyone in her circle was entirely supportive of her decision to go under the knife.

She said O’Donnell, whom she considers “a very good friend,” was a little “judgmental” upon learning that Lake had decided to have cosmetic surgery.

“She would admit that she was judging myself and a few of my friends who had gone to this doctor and gotten amazing results,” Lake said. “She says, ‘Why do you need it?’ And then, of course, she lost a lot of weight with Mounjaro, and she went and did it.”

O’Donnell revealed she followed the same procedure in a Substack article shared in May. She also shared a lengthy post on Instagram explaining why she chose to do so, writing that she had put herself “in charge of all the women who would never – ever” get a makeover.

She admitted to thinking it was a “betrayal” of feminism, aging and “our team of women around the world.” Her opinion on the matter changed, she wrote, when she lost 50 pounds.

“It wasn’t wrinkles, it was gravity,” she wrote. “I looked in the mirror and thought, this isn’t growing old, it’s… melting with intention.”

On “The View,” Lake detailed what exactly she had done, sharing that she didn’t get her eyes done, opting for “a deep lower face and neck lift and a CO2 laser.”

“I’m thrilled with my results. And I love my doctor. And I’m not going to stay here. Dr. Alan Foulad in Los Angeles. He’s very special,” she said. “He’s wonderful and he’s a master.”

Lake previously opened up about her decision to get a makeover after losing weight, telling the “Inside Edit” podcast in March that she “didn’t do any research” before deciding “very impulsively to get a facial.”

She explained that everything came together very quickly. After having her consultation appointment in mid-June, she set a surgery date for mid-July and “never looked back.”

“I had just lost 40 pounds and I had this hang,” she said, pointing to the area under her chin. “And it’s not just that I didn’t like what I saw or that I wanted to look younger. I have gray hair. It’s not about that. It’s like I have an appendix that’s hanging out and it’s not going to grow back, like come back up.”
