It’s safe to say that former New England Patriots linebacker Niko Koutouvides won’t receive another speaking invitation from the team anytime soon.
Rob Gronkowski’s induction into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame took an awkward turn Saturday in front of Gillette Stadium. Koutouvides recalled a story about how Gronkowski brought adult toys to training camp in 2011 and discussed it with Aaron Hernandez. The story did not sit well with social media users.
“I’m going to ask all the kids here, no matter what you hear, not to ask any questions after this, okay?” Koutouvides said to start his story.

When you have to tell kids not to ask questions about what you’re about to say, you probably shouldn’t say it at all. But alas, Koutouvides continued.
“So Rob says, ‘I just got Jenna Jameson’s adult toy,’ and for those who don’t know, Jenna Jameson, she was like an Oscar-winning actress, OK. ‘And that thing was horrible, I got ripped off,'” Koutouvides said.
Jameson is an adult film actress, and Gronkowski put his head in his hands, looking uncomfortable as Koutouvides began telling the story.
“So wait, it gets a lot better than that guys. So Aaron (Hernandez) rebutted, ‘Oh, I got a whole bunch in college,’ and started going through the description of every procedure you had to follow to be successful,” Koutouvides continued.
“And that included microwaves and oils and all sorts of things. So I’m going into my eighth year in the league, they just finished their two phenomenal rookie seasons, they’re going into year two. Remember, this is his second phenomenal year.”
Koutouvides wondered why Gronkowski brought the adult toy to training camp, where players would spend two and a half weeks.

“And I’m like, ‘Do I come into this conversation?’ and I just couldn’t stay out of it. And I raised my hand and I said, ‘Can I communicate something with you two? Why are we talking about something that’s prosthetic, right? In front of this door, when we come out in two and a half weeks, is everything we want in front of this door!'”
“And they both look at me and say ‘you’ve got a good explanation Niko but, more importantly, these two and a half weeks feel like three and a half years. And I said ‘we’re going to have a great experience, the three of us,’ and the rest is history from there.”
Gronkowski quickly made sure that Koutouvides’ speech was a thing of the past once it was over.
“Thank you very much, you’re done,” Gronkowski said.
Social media disputed Koutouvides’ story.
“A player that no one knows gets up there and talks about Aaron Hernández and an adult movie star while being completely rambling while telling a pointless story. Why was he talking?” a user wrote about X.
Another fan called it “horrible,” while other fans questioned why Koutouvides was speaking.

“2 things….what was that speech….and why was Koutivides there?” A fan wrote about X.
“Fun fact: not many people knew who he was,” another user wrote on X.
