Goldman Sachs has crowned its new class of partners.

The storied financial institution announced it has elevated 109 executives to one of Wall Street’s most coveted titles — the largest promotion since 2010. Thursday’s announcement continues the bank’s tradition of selecting a group of executives every two years, usually in early November.

This year’s class is 15% larger than in 2024, when the company promoted 95 executives. Goldman will have a total of more than 500 associates when the new positions take effect in January, representing about 1% of the firm.

Engineers have made a big impression this year, as their talents are increasingly in demand on Wall Street. Goldman promoted 13 engineers to its partner category across all divisions, the highest number ever. Asset and wealth management also recorded record performance, with 30% of partners coming from this division.

The partnership class reflects the direction CEO David Solomon and the rest of management think the company is heading, one executive said. They also said that technological knowledge and interest, particularly in AI, played a role in this year’s promotions to all positions.

Unlike 2024, Goldman did not report how many women or people of color were promoted to partner. From January 1, the firm will have more than 100 women partners for the first time.

Becoming a partner at Goldman is a major step in your career. The title is associated with lucrative financial rewards, influence over the direction of the bank and one of the most coveted titles on Wall Street. It’s not easy either. Success requires years of hard work and achievement, as well as an intense review process known internally as “cross-ruffing,” a nod to the card game bridge.
