Fans loved Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato’s reunion, but no one understands how meaningful it is more than the two friends.
In a Thursday, October 29 Instagram post, Gomez shared photos of her new Rare Beauty Blush collaboration with the Camp Rocher alum as well as a few throwbacks, writing, “over 25 years of life’s ups and downs, friendship and growth, there has always been one constant that has brought me back to you, @ddlovato.” »
“You were the person who knew seven-year-old me who had just had a dream, and I knew you had a really big dream too,” the beauty mogul continued, referring to the couple’s first meeting on Barney and his friends in the early 2000s. “I love what we’ve been through. I’m proud of what we’ve been through. Thank you for always being one of the most incredibly honest human beings in my life.”
Gomez added: “I love you with all my heart.”
The duo has certainly been through a lot over the past quarter decade. They both became superstars on the Disney Channel, joining forces at one point in the original 2009 film. Princess Protection Program — which inspired the aesthetic of the Rare collaboration — but Gomez and Lovato’s friendship hit some turbulence in the 2010s. After multiple times breaking up and making up, the artists are now firmly in each other’s corners, with Gomez coming to one of the shows on Lovato’s It’s Not That Deep tour earlier this year.
Also for the Rare campaign, Lovato and Gomez sat down to film one of the BFF vlogs they regularly posted two decades ago, marking the first time in about 18 years. The couple recreated their famous “Yo, yo!” opening at the start and answered fan-submitted questions.
Plus, Gomez and Lovato donned tiaras and looked back in some of the most iconic photos of them together over the years, laughing adorably at moments from their past that now make them cringe.
Both stars last released their albums in 2025, with Gomez and her now-husband Benny Blanco reaching No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with I said I love you first. Lovato unleashed It’s not that deep the same year, debuting at number 9 on the US album chart.
Gomez and Lovato have also appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 several times over the years, most notably with their 2009 collaboration, “One and The Same,” which peaked at No. 82.
