Selma Blair was arrested Sunday after an alleged violent incident on a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York. Variety confirmed.
The “Legally Blonde” actress allegedly punched a flight attendant and bit another after she tried to open the plane’s door while in the air, according to TMZ. Law enforcement was stationed at the gate and responded to the incident once the plane landed in New York, where Blair, 54, was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation. Two flight attendants reported injuries, one of whom was treated at a hospital.
A representative for Blair said Variety: “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.”
The Port Authority confirmed Blair’s identity to Variety. A source says the FBI is currently investigating the incident.
In a statement to Varietysaid a Delta Airlines spokesperson, “Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or illegal behavior because the safety of our customers and crew always comes first.”
Despite the chaos on board, there was no operational impact from the flight, which landed at John F. Kennedy Airport around 11 p.m., earlier than planned.
This is not the first time Blair has suffered an explosion on a plane. In 2016, she was removed from a flight on a stretcher while traveling with her 4-year-old son after “having a total psychotic blackout.” Blair attributed the incident to drinking a glass of wine and taking a pill, saying at the time: “It was horrible and scary and I had empathy for myself afterwards because it was really out of character for me, especially because I’m a mother.”
