Oops !
“Saturday Night Live” host Shane Gillis accidentally dropped an f-bomb, broadcast live on NBC without censorship, during the Oct. 10 episode of the sketch show.
The blooper occurred during a parody of Dr. Seuss’s “Green Eggs and Ham,” in which Gillis plays a man who defends his father as Sam-I-Am tries to push green eggs and ham on him. Early in the sketch, Gillis, at a point where his character expresses frustration with Sam and tells him to back off, blurts out the f-word.
On the show’s East Coast feed, the full curse word played and was not muted.
After taking the oath, Gillis immediately realized his mistake: he broke character, grimaced and exclaimed: “Damn! It took a few moments for the sketch to get back on track, and Gillis waved to the audience as they burst into laughter and applause.
The rest of the sketch proceeded largely normally, although in one meta moment, Mikey Day chastised Gillis’ character, telling him, “You’re a loser and you said a bad word!”
“Yes, I did,” Gillis said, and he ended the sketch by saying, “Sorry about earlier.” Gillis then referenced the incident at the very end of the show, again saying he was sorry during Goodnight.
Uncensored F-bombs are rarely shown live on “SNL,” although there have been a number of incidents over the years. In 2025, musical guest Sabrina Carpenter sang two uncensored f-words during her live performance of “Nobody’s Son”. Sam Rockwell and Kristen Stewart also dropped f-bombs on the show in 2018 and 2017, respectively.

This was Gillis’ third “SNL” hosting stint. The comedian’s monologues have been divisive, and his latest is no exception: He was criticized on X for a number of controversial jokes, including one about women dressing “like whores” at the gym.
Gillis was fired as a cast member from “SNL” in 2019, just days after he was hired, for racist comments. He addressed the controversy while hosting the show for the first time in 2024, telling viewers: “I actually got fired from this show a while ago, but please don’t look it up. If you don’t know who I am, please don’t Google it.”
