While Saturday evening live was off this weekend, his British counterpart did not hesitate to criticize last week’s episode of the American sketch series.
SATURDAY, SNL UKAnia Magliano, co-host of ‘s “Weekend Update,” ended the segment with a joke about Shane Gillis, following his complaint on last weekend’s show. SNL opening monologue that “women dress like whores now” at the gym.
“A ride operator at Munich’s Oktoberfest was praised for handing out free cycling shorts to female riders. Wearing sports shorts will protect women from raised skirts, but it will leave them vulnerable to something much worse,” Magliano said as an image of Gillis’ monologue appeared next to her.
With the audience already bursting into laughter, Magliano hung in there, mocking strict U.S. broadcasting rules after Gillis accidentally dropped the F-bomb during a sketch.
Magliano continued: “Last week, SNLcomedian Shane Gillis also caused controversy by dropping the F-bomb. Oh Shane, you have no right to say that, you stupid bastard.
Although Gillis quickly apologized for the expletive, he has yet to address backlash from fellow comedians and fans over his monologue, particularly in the wake of an alleged gang rape committed by members of the fraternity known as the Cornell 7.
Gillis’ final hosting gig on SNL comes after he hosted in 2024 and 2025, following his removal from the NBC sketch comedy’s star cast days after it was announced in 2019. The decision came in response to resurfaced videos of Gillis mocking Asian accents, in addition to using ethnic and gay slurs.
