Sony’s Bend Studio reportedly plans a reveal and possible 2027 release for its third-person co-op game, although the project didn’t start until mid-2025

  • 0-20%: unlikely – lack of credible sources
  • 21-40%: Questionable – Some concerns remain
  • 41-60%: Plausible – Reasonable evidence
  • 61-80%: Likely – Strong evidence
  • 81-100%: Very likely – Several reliable sources

According to a new rumor posted by MP1st, Sonydeveloper owned by Curvature Studio will announce and perhaps even publish his next project in 2027because its development is much more advanced than anyone had imagined until now.

This is truly a major surprise, as previous reports mentioned that Bend Studio didn’t begin the project until June 2025, following the unexpected cancellation of its open-world live-action game earlier in 2025. At that time, the Oregon-based developer also cut 30% of its workforcewhich makes progress even more difficult.

Launching a (presumably) triple-A game in less than three years would be unthinkable these days, at least from scratch. The obvious conclusion is that they had to be able to reuse much of the code and assets they had produced for the canceled game. MP1st doesn’t provide much information about the new title, other than that this will not be a live game. However, it will be a third-person cooperative game.

It won’t be a sequel to Days Gone, that’s for sure. Sony famously rejected this proposal several years ago, despite the 2019 game’s decent profitability. Personally, I maintain that it is massively underrated and absolutely deserves a follow-up game.

Oddly, Sony released Days Gone Remastered and the Broken road DLC in April 2025, adding new content such as Horde Assault (a Survival Arcade mode), a Permanent death fashion, and a Fast running fashion, which suggests that they believed at least a little in the IP. The franchise was also going to be adapted for the big screen, but that project seems dead, considering there haven’t been any updates in over four years.

Hopefully Bend Studio can catch a break with this next project. Since this is a cooperative game, it will likely launch on PC alongside PlayStation 5just like Helldivers.
