Tesla Roadster revealed

Tesla has finally revealed its long-awaited next-generation Roadster, and it looks absolutely bonkers. Nearly nine years after the launch of the original prototype, Tesla promises insane details for its new Roadster:

  • 0-60 MPH in less than 1.0 seconds
  • A fan under the car generating 2 G of grip
  • SpaceX thrusters

The company claims the car can corner with enough force to feel like it’s breaking the laws of physics. Oh, and Tesla says the Roadster can literally fly.

The Roadster will be Tesla’s only manually driven car

Tesla is increasingly focusing on autonomous driving, but the Roadster will apparently remain an exception. Elon Musk said:

“It will actually be the only manually driven car made by Tesla in the long term.”

While the company’s other vehicles move toward increasingly automated driving capabilities, the Roadster is designed with drivers (or pilots) in mind. And Tesla wants it to be special:

“So if it’s the only manually driven car, let’s take it to the limits and beyond the limits.”

A giant fan can pull the Roadster on the road

One of the Roadster’s most unusual features is hidden underneath the car.

Tesla has developed a fan vacuum system located under the vehicle that can actively pull the car toward the curb. The company claims the system can generate enough grip that the Roadster can experience up to 2g of force while cornering.

Tesla says the Roadster can corner so aggressively it seems to break physics – and it wants to break track records.

The company says the Roadster is developed to deliver performance that goes beyond what today’s sports cars can achieve. In fact, Musk made a huge promise about what the car will ultimately accomplish:

“This is going to crush every record that has ever existed.”

The new Roadster will enter production in 2028.
