The GOP’s closing midterm message is about…the Cheesecake Factory?

The conversation is a weekly dive into the Daily Kos’ most popular stories and what they tell us about the national political environment.

Here it is, the last days before the elections. The big question is whether we are seeing a blue wave or a blue tsunami. Of course, among Democrats there is this undercurrent of What if the polls were wrong?

A little anxiety is not a bad thing. We’ve been burned and we don’t want to go back to that dark place. But to believe that a bad election night was possible would require ignoring history, special election results, economic data, early voting data and, yes, those lousy polls.

As you might expect, most of the news last week was focused on the campaign. It is shocking how bad the Republicans’ campaign is, compounded by their poor ability to govern. Anything short of a blue tsunami (representing 55 or more seats in the Senate and more than 240 seats in the House) would constitute an indictment of the American people. In a sane, rational world, Tuesday would be an extinction event for the GOP.

And have you all figured out the crazy Cheesecake Factory nonsense? It was great to see former President Barack Obama, what real looks like the president, laughing in Trump’s face.

If the Republican Party wants its final message to be, “Trump likes men’s butts, high gas prices are staggering, and the Cheesecake Factory is good,” who are we to stop them?

And did I mention how bad Republicans are at governing?

Fake accounts. Fake news. You can help stop it.
