The island where locals say data centers take their water

Research from the United States suggests that a typical data center uses around 300,000 gallons of water per day, or approximately up to 1,000 American homes. A larger facility, with a capacity of 50 MW, could consume as much water as 2,200 homes per day and enough electricity to power 22,000 homes, according to Malaysia’s central bank.
