Game 6 of the WNBA Finals between the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries will be played Thursday at 12:30 p.m. ET at State Farm Arena, the league announced. This means that Valkyries fans in California will watch the match at 9:30 a.m. local time.
Dream goalkeeper Allisha Gray said it didn’t matter what time the game was played.
“I mean, it’s the final. You just gotta do what you gotta do,” she said. “We are determined to win Game 6. I don’t care if we play at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. or midnight. We have a championship to win.”
The WNBA worked hard with the NBA to move the game to State Farm Arena – home of the Atlanta Hawks – where Games 3 and 4 of the championship series were played. Game 5 kicks off Monday at 8 p.m. ET in San Francisco.

The Hawks will play a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night that cannot be moved to another date or location. The only way they could do that was to play the early afternoon game. The Hawks game was moved back an hour.
“The sold-out crowds and extraordinary atmosphere at State Farm Arena for Games 3 and 4 were a huge success, and we are thrilled to give thousands of additional fans the opportunity to experience Game 6 with a championship on the line,” WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said in a statement. “We thank the NBA, Dream, Valkyries, Hawks, State Farm Arena and USA Network for the collaboration and flexibility that made this decision possible. We look forward to bringing another unforgettable Finals experience to Atlanta.”

By playing Game 6 at State Farm Arena, the Dream can have more than 17,000 fans, as opposed to its usual home, Gateway Center Arena, which can accommodate around 3,500. Games 3 and 4 were sold out.
This is the third time in the series that the WNBA has made accommodations so that the Dream can play in a larger arena. Game 3 was moved up a day to last Wednesday and Saturday’s game started at 1 p.m. ET so the Hawks could still host their home opener that night against Houston.
This game was moved back 30 minutes to allow more time for arena staff to change the building for the Hawks contest. Now, there could potentially be a champion crowned that day, so there would be more time between matches.
The NBA and WNBA have explored options to keep the game in prime time.
