Travis Kelce Reveals His Fears About Taylor Swift’s Marriage ‘Going South’

Travis Kelce has broken his silence after Prince William admitted he tried to “out” him from the now-infamous selfie that badly launched his relationship with Taylor Swift on Instagram.

William recently appeared on The Graham Norton Show and admitted he didn’t understand the “meaning” of the 2024 photo, which depicted him, Taylor, Travis and his older children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, until recently.

“I wasn’t until recently. I didn’t appreciate the significance of it – and in fact, I was trying to get him out of the picture,” William joked on the show.

“But Travis kept coming back, and I couldn’t understand why he kept coming back,” he continued. “I was trying to get him to leave, so it was just me, Taylor and the kids.”

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has now shared his reaction to the future king’s comments, joking that he hopes his marriage to Taylor “doesn’t go south” for William’s sake.

“I get it, man. I think we all get it,” Travis said during his interview with his brother Jason Kelce. New heights podcast on Wednesday October 28.

“I was just a boyfriend at that point. You know? I wasn’t her husband yet. You know? We don’t really know if this is going to last, so we just have to get out of the way real quick so we can keep this picture forever.”

He jokingly added, “Yeah. Hopefully it doesn’t go south. Otherwise, this picture won’t be as good.”

Making it clear he has no hard feelings towards William, Travis added: “Shout out to Prince William, man.”

The photo was taken in June 2024 during Taylor’s eight-night run at London’s Wembley Stadium for her Eras tour.

Taylor, William, George and Charlotte posed for a selfie alongside then-boyfriend Travis, and it broke the internet when it was posted on Instagram, as it was the first ever publicly shared photo by either Taylor or Travis of them together. They had started dating nine months earlier.

Wales’ night at the Eras Tour coincided with William’s 42nd birthday, but it wasn’t the first time he had met Taylor; the two met in 2013 when Taylor attended a gala at Kensington Palace for the charity Centrepoint.

At the gala, William was called on stage alongside Taylor and Jon Bon Jovi to sing “Livin’ on a Prayer,” and he later said of the moment: “To this day, I still don’t know what came over me. Honestly, even now I cringe at what happened next and I don’t understand why I gave in.

“But honestly, if Taylor Swift looks you in the eye and touches your arm and says, ‘Come with me…,’ I stood up like a puppy and said, ‘Yeah, okay, that sounds like a great idea. I’ll follow you.'”

Travis and Taylor began dating in the summer of 2023 and made their official debut in late September when Taylor joined Travis’ mother, Donna Kelce, and her friends at a Kansas City Chiefs game.

They got engaged in August 2025 and married on July 3, 2026 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
