Cruz, Paxton Warn Texas Senate Race Will Decide Control of Congress: ‘I’ve Never Been More Scared’

Republican leaders rallied conservative voters in Texas on Saturday, warning that the high-stakes U.S. Senate race serves as the ultimate national firewall against a far-left takeover in Washington.

Speaking alongside Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, Republican Senator Ted Cruz outlined the important issues facing the nation.

“I’ve never been more worried. I’ve never been more scared about an election in Texas and an election nationally,” Cruz said, arguing that the political realignment of the other side has changed the fundamental debate in American politics.

“It’s no longer a battle between left and right. It’s not a battle between liberals and conservatives. It’s a battle between the sane and the crazy,” Cruz said.

Rep. Darrell Issa, Republican of California, added that if President Donald Trump “doesn’t get Ken Paxton, he probably won’t have a Republican majority.”

“He won’t be able to have conservative judges. He won’t be able to protect Texas from Schumer and, for that matter, from Elizabeth Warren,” Issa said.

Paxton also criticized his Democratic opponent, Texas state Rep. James Talarico, as a radical Democrat like New York’s Democratic Socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.

“No matter how many ads he runs lying about his record, James Talarico is a democratic socialist, just like AOC and just like New York City Mayor Mamdani,” Paxton said.

“In fact, in his own words, Talarico called Mamdani a role model for future American politicians. He’s a Texas guy, supposedly. Darrell, California, already has two senators. They don’t need a third. You all agree that this guy is it,” Paxton added.

Cruz warned that a Democratic-controlled Senate led by Chuck Schumer would lead to total legislative gridlock, a halt to judicial and ministerial confirmations, and a “circus of relentless subpoenas and investigations” targeting the administration.

“If we lose Texas, we lose America. That’s what we’re fighting for,” Paxton said, urging voters not to wake up after the election to find “a Marxist, a guy saying we have to dismantle capitalism as the U.S. senator from Texas.”
