Days before the midterm elections, President Trump posted a surreal photo of himself alongside Elvis Presley and claimed he would have won the Vietnam War.
Trump posted the photo, which shows the right half of his face next to the king of rock and roll’s left half, late Sunday evening. The same day, he told rally attendees that it would have taken him a week to win the nearly 20-year Vietnam War.
The commander in chief, whose party is heading into what could be a difficult midterm election cycle, did not caption the Elvis image when he uploaded it to Truth Social, nor explain why he posted it.
However, Trump has often shared his love for the legendary singer and even awarded him a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom during his first term.
Earlier this year, Trump visited Graceland — the iconic mansion where Elvis once lived — while appearing in Memphis to talk about deploying federal law enforcement to combat crime rates.

“Elvis would be very happy about that,” Trump joked, referring to a reduction in the crime rate, before adding: “I love Elvis.”
“All my life I’ve heard about Graceland,” Trump also said during the trip. “I was with Elvis in his semi-prime, at least, right?”
Trump’s message comes just two days before millions of Americans head to the polls for the midterm elections.
Ahead of the election, polls showed that the Democratic Party could increase its power in Congress – with Republicans currently holding majorities in the House and Senate.
Despite the dismal poll results and voters’ frustration with the Trump administration’s record on the cost of living and the war in Iran, the president encouraged voters to “pretend” he was on the ballot.

Also on Sunday, Trump appeared at a rally in Dubuque, Iowa, where he spoke about the current situation with Iran and the military action earlier this year that resulted in the capture of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
“Vietnam, 21 years, thousands and thousands of people killed, hundreds of thousands of people killed,” Trump said, referring to previous conflicts. “Afghanistan, years and years… We never fight to win.”
“I could have won the Vietnam War in a week, you know,” he suggested. “They dropped whatever that red s**t is that they…kept dropping it in the forest.”
Then an audience member shouted at Trump that the chemical in question was Agent Orange — a herbicide used by the U.S. military to destroy Vietnam’s forests to eliminate enemy cover.
“Agent Orange, even if it’s red,” Trump said, before appearing to confuse the name of a Vietnamese city: “Agent Orange, they leave it in the forest for years and years, instead of going after Ho Chi Minh City and different places.
“I would have won this war in a week.”
Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, was the capital of South Vietnam, an ally of the United States.
Hanoi was the capital of communist North Vietnam.
