Trump rally blitz continues in bid to boost Republicans in 2026 midterms

Trump talks to reporter while defending controversial Ramaswamy ad featuring Dem’s mother

Amid a heated Ohio gubernatorial race, President Donald Trump on Friday continued his strong support for Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s controversial campaign ad that features Democratic opponent Amy Acton’s ex-mother urging voters to reject her daughter.

“A mother says don’t put my daughter there because she’s a horrible person and a liar. Why shouldn’t someone use that?” » Trump said.

“But don’t the allegations of sexual abuse mean anything to you, sir?” » insisted a journalist who identified herself as working for NBC.

As the journalist repeatedly pressed the subject, Trump called out “Silence.”

“You’re a horrible little reporter, aren’t you?” » Trump said.

“If I had this commercial, I would be so lucky to have a commercial like this. Why wouldn’t you listen to a mother who says that? Why?” asked Trump, calling the reporter “Miss NBC.”

The reporter noted that the mother stayed with the “stepfather who was accused of raping his stepdaughter in 1978, sir.”

“I don’t know anything about stepfathers from many, many years ago. I know that recently a mother appeared on television and said her daughter should not be governor of Ohio,” Trump said.

Ramaswamy, who is running against Democratic candidate Amy Acton in the Buckeye State gubernatorial race, has come under fire for a campaign ad that featured his opponent’s estranged mother calling her daughter a “liar” who voters should reject.

“I love my daughter. But when I saw her lie about her opponent – it’s not easy for a mother to say this – but Amy has a serious problem. She’s a liar. She lies about her past. She says she grew up living in a tent. None of that is true. She’s been lying her whole life. My daughter needs help. And she can’t help you if she needs help herself,” Donna Arthur said in the video. “Don’t vote for people who lie. Don’t let her become your governor. If you think she will make your life better, you are wrong. It will only get worse.”

Acton posted a lengthy message on Facebook discussing the video.

“Growing up in Youngstown, my brother Phil and I endured abuse, hunger and neglect – we even spent a winter homeless, living in a tent. We were often kept in a dark basement, were frequently stolen from Child Protective Services, and lived in fear of our biological mother’s violent and erratic nature. Between the ages of 10 and 12, I was sexually assaulted by her husband, while my biological mother did nothing to protect me. and it’s sad to see Vivek Ramaswamy exploiting it for his own political gain,” Acton said on Tuesday.

“Eventually, I confided in my father and stepmother, and we were brought out of that situation. My biological mother’s husband was arrested, charged with rape, and indicted by a grand jury. At age 12, I testified in court. I haven’t seen my biological mother since that day in 1978. She and her husband fled the state and he was declared a fugitive,” the candidate noted.
