Trump throws Netanyahu a last-minute lifeline. This may not be enough.

TEL AVIV — President that of Donald Trump political brand is still strong in Israel – but it may not save the prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu of an electoral defeat next Tuesday.

Although it provided an important signal of support from the leader of Israel’s main ally, Trump’s last minute approval of Netanyahu This week came amid a series of opinion polls that show the prime minister’s governing coalition several seats short of a parliamentary majority.

“It seems unlikely that Asset alone can help him catch up with such a significant delay when nothing else has worked,” said Dahlia Scheindlinveteran pollster and prominent Israeli political analyst.

Netanyahu’s coalition held 60 of the Knesset’s 120 seats before parliament dissolved in July, and recent polls suggest his bloc could erode in next week’s elections. A Walla investigation published Tuesday planned only 48 seats for Netanyahu and its allies – 13 short of the 61 needed to form a government. Another Channel 12 poll puts his bloc at 51 seats.
