Trump’s favorite pollster says Democrats will win big in the midterms and have a large majority in the House.

Donald Trump’s favorite pollster, CNN’s Harry Enten, predicted that Democrats would win big in next Tuesday’s midterm elections and have a substantial majority in the House of Representatives.

The president is campaigning hard for Republican candidates, holding daily rallies and even promising $5,000 to Americans if Republicans maintain control of Congress. But CNN’s chief data analyst suggested that might not be enough to win the House, where it takes 218 seats to form a majority.

Enten, averaging election forecasters, found that a year ago, 206 House seats leaned at least Democratic for the next Congress.

“Look at it now, like a rocket. We’re now talking about 223 seats. That’s north of the 218 that Democrats need to take back the U.S. House of Representatives,” Enten said. CNN News Central Wednesday.

Although Trump generally views unfavorable polls as false, he has previously admitted that Enten’s results “have gained credibility.”

“The best person on CNN is pollster Harry Enten, because he was willing to show that Donald J. Trump is six times more popular than Abraham Lincoln, George Washington or any other president – he has credibility (don’t fire him!),” Trump wrote on Truth Social last month.

The president may have liked what Enten had to say when he cast him in a good light — especially given his record approval ratings — but he probably won’t like the data guru’s latest prediction.

“What I should note is that these House races, historically, have been pretty conservative. There are still 17 or more in about (sic) races that are toss-ups,” Enten said Wednesday. “So the Democrats are in a very strong position right now, not only to get 218 seats, but to get many seats north of there. »

A recent poll showed Democrats with an 11-point lead over Republicans in House races nationwide.

Voters are more likely to choose the Democratic candidate, 52 percent, than the Republican candidate, 41 percent, in their district, according to a new study. New York Times/Survey by the University of Siena.

Several House Republicans even admitted behind closed doors that they would lose the majority in the midterms, according to a Politico report earlier this month.

“President Trump has made this election about himself,” said one Republican lawmaker. “Now we must weather this political storm.”

White House Deputy Press Secretary Liz Huston said The Independent at the time, “President Trump pledged to maintain Republican majorities in the House and Senate.”
