Tyler Cameron looks back on his controversial ‘Dancing with the Stars’ speech.
“The Bachelor” alumna, 33, posted a TikTok video with professional partner Sharna Burgess, thanking her and her fans for their support shortly after they were eliminated from the ABC competition series during the Tuesday, Oct. 27, episode.
He also explained why he left the camera after receiving low scores earlier in the night – a moment that many viewers criticized for being unprofessional.
“This has been an incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I mean it with all my heart,” Cameron told Burgess, “I’m so grateful for everything, for you, for what this has meant to me, for everything. And I also want to say that you all saw in me a real human moment. It’s not my proudest moment when I was on the floor getting my scores.”
Cameron and Burgess scored 26 out of 40 for their Viennese waltz to Annie Lennox’s “Love Song for a Vampire,” inspired by “Bram Stoker’s Dracula,” with guest judge Shirley Ballas giving the routine a five and the other three judges a seven.
“I thought we were done filming and I needed to get away from everything,” he said. “I was disappointed in myself. I thought it was boom or bust at that point, where we had to have a good score or we were eliminated from this competition, and it was a bust in my head, and I felt like I was letting myself down. More importantly, I thought I let Sharna down, and that was hard.”

Burgess noted that Cameron was “very hard on himself” because all the technical issues he was called on were the exact ones they had “worked on all week.” She added that after watching the dance, she thought he “performed much of it beautifully.”
“I think your score shouldn’t have been a seven. I don’t know why you were given a seven. I think you could have been an eight and Shirley a five, which by the way was the highest score she got in a ballroom dance all night,” the choreographer pointed out.
She then told Cameron, “I need you to know that what you accomplished was incredible. You didn’t let anyone down. It was a tough night. For whatever reason, they were hard on you. They were hard on you. Last week you should have had higher scores too. This is a pattern for you. There are some things we can’t control, no matter what they see against us.”

Reiterating that he was “extremely disappointed”, Cameron admitted to being “heartbroken” at the time.
“I was just real and raw,” he continued. “This show is a pressure cooker, and all I wanted to do was score well, crush it, and move on to the next week, because it was the most incredible experience. It didn’t happen that way, and I was upset. But I can step back now, an hour away, and be so happy with how everything went.”
“Are you proud of yourself?” asked Burgess, to which the reality star replied, “I’m very proud of myself.” Like I said, it was a dream.
He concluded the video by apologizing and expressing his gratitude for participating in week 7 of the competition.
“I’m going to miss this place, I’m going to miss this ballroom, I’m going to miss dancing with you, and it stinks. It’s going to burn for a little while, then it’s going to stink for a few days. But I love the whole experience,” Cameron said. “I’m sorry I let my emotions get the best of me earlier, but it came from a place of love and passion, and it was difficult.”
The conclusion of Cameron’s “DWTS” journey came a week after his Dedication Night performance stole the show when he and fiancée Tate Madden announced their pregnancy live on air. Then they had a surprise gender reveal, with pink confetti filling the ballroom to signify they were having a baby girl.
“It’s amazing. I’ll soon be her husband and the father of a beautiful baby,” Cameron said at the time as he and Madden shared an emotional hug. “I’m going to be a girl dad. What a gift.”
