Georgia Governor-elect Keisha Lance Bottoms has announced the team that will help her take office, and it includes filmmaker and media executive Tyler Perry.
Bottoms announced that Perry would be part of his transition team, called “Georgia’s Promise”, during a press conference on November 6. She called Perry an “entertainment mogul” who is also “a huge philanthropic part of our Georgia community and owns Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.”
The former Atlanta mayor previously worked with Perry. Bottoms made her first foray into showbiz as executive producer of her Netflix political comedy “She the People.” Later renamed “Miss Governor”, the series premiered in May 2025 and was canceled after its first season.

“THANK YOU to everyone who tuned in and made ‘She The People’ the hit show we knew it would be,” she said in a May 2025 Instagram post. “I was encouraged by some very well-meaning people not to become an executive producer on this project. But I learned that intuition is a superpower and sometimes what makes sense to you just isn’t meant for others to understand.”

Who else will be on Bottoms’ transition committee?
The announcement comes as Perry is embroiled in controversy over multiple sexual assault allegations. Two actors who previously worked under Perry have filed lawsuits seeking $77 million and $260 million in damages, accusing their former boss of coercion, unwanted advances and retaliation. Perry has denied the allegations, calling one of the lawsuits a “shakedown” and a “money grab.”
The writer-director will serve as co-chair of Bottoms’ transition committee alongside Home Depot founder Arthur Blank, Delta Air Lines executive Richard Cox, Carter Center board chair Jason Carter, former state Rep. Jane Kidd, among others. Former City of Atlanta COO John King will serve as the transition committee’s COO.
“I spoke with Governor Kemp; we had a very good conversation. He offered to provide every resource and support possible to make this transition happen smoothly and in an orderly manner,” Bottoms said.
Bottoms, 56, is an attorney who served as an Atlanta City Council member, magistrate judge and prosecutor before serving as Atlanta’s mayor from 2018 to 2022. She later served as a senior adviser in the Biden administration. Her victory Tuesday made her the first Black woman and first governor of Georgia and ended Republicans’ 24-year rule in the state.
