U2 performed a memorable halftime show in New Orleans during Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002 and they will return to a football field for a brief concert later this year.
Netflix announced Tuesday that the band will perform during halftime of the NFL’s first-ever Thanksgiving Day game on November 25. The game will take place at SoFi Stadium with the Rams hosting the Packers.
“There’s a reason U2 has headlined stadiums for decades: They don’t just perform, they deliver iconic moments that audiences will remember forever,” Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said in a statement. “We’re thrilled that they’re bringing that same magic to the NFL stage on Netflix. It’s going to be an unforgettable night for football fans and Netflix members everywhere.”
Netflix has aired Christmas games for the past two seasons, and the halftime shows for these competitions have featured artists like Beyoncé and Snoop Dogg. So they may have more to announce before the two games they’ll be broadcasting over the holidays this year.
