Ismael Bonfim once again experienced a disastrous day on a scale.
At Friday’s official weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 122, Bonfim missed weight for the third time in his run with the promotion, weighing in at 163.5 pounds, which was 7.5 pounds over the non-title limit for his lightweight bout with Francisco Prado.
Bonfim had already missed weight by five pounds for a November 2025 fight against Chris Padilla, and by 3.5 pounds for a November 2023 fight against Vinc Pichel that was later postponed. “Marreta” told Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting that he “finally got serious” about his diet after Padilla’s gaffe, but it appears he’s strayed from that path again.
Prado managed to reach 155 pounds. The UFC later announced that Prado vs. Bonfim would take place at catchweight, with Bonfim losing 25 percent of his purse as a penalty.
Two other fighters also missed weight for Saturday’s card, with Ketlen Souza (117)* at one pound over the strawweight limit, and Brendson Ribeiro (208.5) at 2.5 pounds over the light heavyweight limit. Their respective fights against Loopy Godinez (115.5) and Felipe Franco (205) are at catchweight, with Souza and Ribeiro losing 20 percent of their purses as penalties.
In better news, middleweight headliners Brendan Allen (186) and Christian Leroy Duncan (185) both managed to make weight. Saturday’s main event is a crucial clash for both men as Allen fights to stay near the front of the contenders’ line, while Duncan has a chance to knock out another top opponent after beating former title challenger Jared Cannonier in his last outing.
