Utah teen Kylie Arellano found safe in Oregon more than a year after going missing

It’s been nearly a year and a half since 15-year-old Kylie Arellano disappeared from Garden City, Utah. She was last seen by her family on May 29, 2025.

In December, Dateline spoke with Kylie’s mother, Stephanie Coleman, about her daughter’s disappearance for the series “Missing in America.” The night Kylie went missing, the two communicated via text. “She says, ‘I love you, Mom. Good night.’ I said, ‘I love you too, little girl,’” Stephanie recalled. “It was at 9:44 p.m. His phone went off at 9:52 p.m.

The next morning, Kylie’s family realized she was missing. “His jacket was in the driveway, left in the driveway. Stuff was packed, his Xbox was missing,” Stephanie said. She told Dateline at the time that she thought Kylie may have left voluntarily. But she soon began to think that her daughter had no intention of leaving for as long as she had been.

Despite the efforts of the Rich County Sheriff’s Office to investigate possible sightings and dig through digital evidence, Kylie remains missing. Stéphanie does not let herself be discouraged. “I remain hopeful that Kylie is there. I will never give up on Kylie,” she said.

She kept that hope alive for over 500 days.

Today, her daughter was found safe in Oregon.

On November 1, 2026, the FBI shared a press release: “Legitimate law enforcement in Oregon, working directly with the Salt Lake City FBI and the Rich County Sheriff’s Office, safely recovered a 17-year-old female,” the release said. “She was found this afternoon in Oregon with a 39-year-old man, who was taken into custody without incident.”

The FBI has not released the man’s name or what charges he may face. “As this matter is ongoing, no further information will be released at this time,” the statement said.

“We are grateful that she can return home and we will continue to work with our partners to hold those responsible accountable,” said FBI Director Kash Patel.

Dateline reached out to Stephanie to see if she could share additional details, but has not yet received a response. She did, however, share a simple message on the “Help Bring Kylie Arellano Home” Facebook page: “My baby girl was found SAFE today!! We made it KOAS ARMY.”
