Victory in game 7 of the WNBA finals for the Valkyries against Angel Reese, the dream makes history with a record television audience

The Golden State Valkyries and Atlanta Dream made history Saturday by playing in the first-ever Game 7 of the WNBA Finals, and they made even more history with the crowd they drew.

The league announced Tuesday that the Valkyries’ victory over the Dream to clinch their first WNBA title is now the most-watched WNBA playoff game with an average of 3.3 million viewers.

This game is also the second most watched WNBA game since 1997.

The millions of viewers who watched the game were treated to the spectacle.

The game was tied with just over two minutes left when Gabby Williams put Golden State ahead with a deep three. The Valkyries then extended the lead to seven before the final minute, but Atlanta stayed alive after Allisha Gray nailed a three to cut the lead to four.

Golden State was ultimately able to ice the game at the finish line, winning its first title in its second season as a franchise.

Williams led the way for the Valkyries with 30 points, and she won Finals MVP for her strong performance throughout the series.

The hype around the WNBA continues to build each year, and an exciting finish to the 2026 campaign will only build momentum heading into next season.
