Jim Cramer was hoping for one of those sleepy November days when not much happens for the 4th annual meeting of the Investing Club. So much for wishful thinking. After the most consequential midterm elections in years, in which Democrats flipped both houses of Congress and won several key gubernatorial elections, the stock market has seen wild swings as investors try to make sense of what’s next. “It stuck a dagger in the hearts of the bulls, that heart being one of the greatest investing stories ever told, the building of multi-billion dollar data centers,” Jim said in his opening remarks to the meeting, held at the historic New York Stock Exchange. What makes this sell-off particularly worrying is that, unlike previous market downturns, there may be no silver bullet. When stocks plunged in April 2025 following President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariff announcements, the president quickly eased policy, setting the stage for a powerful rebound. This time, Jim said concerns that threaten the market’s main growth engine may be harder to resolve. This does not mean, however, that there are no steps to take. “I want to shop around for the best and redeploy capital to other less risky stocks, continuing to peel back, aim for the best and accept losses if necessary, to get to higher ground,” Jim said. The Club has reduced its exposure to AI and exited some development winners, such as Arm Holdings, Corning and Broadcom. But Jim said he thinks in some cases the repositioning hasn’t happened quickly enough. “Not fast enough to Kimberly-Clark,” he said. “Not fast enough in Cardinal Health.” Jim said the club has enough money and is not necessarily keen to put it to use. “It won’t burn a hole in my pocket,” he said. This may not be our approach forever. Jim said he won’t remain as cautious as the market if the market continues to decline, especially for non-tech sectors. “I will also be more optimistic if the giant Anthropic deal goes public and can show people how valuable computing can be.” Portfolio Overview During his interview with Portfolio Director Jeff Marks, Jim started with Apple and reiterated his “own it, don’t trade it” stance on the stock, emphasizing the iPhone maker’s ability to capitalize on AI without spending billions to build its own data centers. “Apple is the clear winner. They have the best products. They have tremendous customer satisfaction,” Jim said. “Apple, I think even here, at 38, 39 times earnings, it’s one of the best stocks we own.” They also talked about Amazon, Boeing, Salesforce and Eaton. Jim also said, “I want to buy FedEx right here. » (See here for a complete list of Jim Cramer’s Charitable Trust stocks.)
