In August, when pre-orders increased for the Xbox Series X25 Special Edition console, they sold out almost instantly. This was a disappointment for longtime Xbox fans who wanted to get their hands on one of these 25th anniversary limited edition consoles. Now you have another chance, thanks to Amazon. Instead of doing pre-orders on a first-come, first-served basis, Amazon is allowing anyone interested to request an invitation to purchase this special edition Xbox (you can request one here).

Requesting an invitation does not mean you will necessarily be invited to purchase a console. But it gives you a chance to be invited, which is better than nothing. As Amazon says: “If you are invited to purchase, you will receive an email when the item is available. Not all requests will be granted.”
The console is meant to celebrate Xbox’s 25th anniversary. It’s due out on November 13 and costs (the oddly specific price) $909.23. Only 25,000 numbered consoles are being made, which explains why people are having difficulty getting a pre-order.
So what do you get if you TO DO end up buying it? You get a 1TB Xbox Series X console, decked out in translucent green. The front of the console has an X25 logo on it and when you turn it on, the X logo also lights up green. You also get a matching controller (which is also sold separately and is still available at select retailers). Finally, you get a digital copy of Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the original Halo’s campaign (see our review).

Overall, this is an extremely popular item among IGN readers. This is a great piece of hardware that celebrates 25 years since the first Xbox hit stores. If you want one, or even if you could be interested in one, there is no reason not to ask for an invitation.
