You’ll soon hear this pipefitter’s voice at Logan Airport

Logan Airport’s new announcements will soon sound a lot more local. Massport on Thursday named Christopher Donisi, a 43-year-old HVAC pipefitter, the winner of its “Voice of Logan” competition, chosen by public vote from among eight finalists after some 6,000 applications, WBUR reports. The East Arlington native, now living in Burlington, says he joined the band at the urging of his mother and has been told since he was 12 that his low baritone stood out (listen here). Wearing a Bruins sweatshirt at the reveal, Donisi said he brought “a real Boston attitude” to the concert and felt “tremendous” pride in representing the city.

“You probably sat next to me in one of the bars in Boston,” he told reporters, according to Axios. “You probably waved or fingered me in traffic, one or the other. We’re all still friends.” Massport CEO Richard Davey called Donisi a “pipefitter with pipes” and said Donisi would begin recording messages next week, in time for the holiday travel rush. Donisi plans to keep his day job while testing his new side hustle on the mic.
