Two Amazon employees — including a woman described by those close to her as “an innocent bystander” — were shot and killed in an overnight outbreak of violence outside a Brooklyn establishment over the weekend, cops and law enforcement sources said.
The woman, 25, was shot in the chest, while a 23-year-old man was shot in the shoulder around 11:15 p.m. outside the Amazon fulfillment center on Bay Street near Hicks Street in Red Hook, police said.
The two injured workers were transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition, troopers said.
The woman, identified by her relatives as Dominique Dunlap, was returning to the establishment on foot after a visit to the grocery store, police sources said.
Dunlap was “an innocent bystander (who) caught a bullet that was not intended for her” and suffered “significant blood loss,” according to a fundraising page for her.
“While we are incredibly grateful that she survived, the bullet remains lodged in her body and she now faces a difficult path to physical and emotional recovery,” her family wrote.
The slain employee was taking his girlfriend — also an Amazon employee — to the building from a bus stop when the shots rang out, sources said.
The girlfriend was unharmed, according to sources.
Two suspects fled in a white sedan, police said.
The motive for this violence is still under investigation.
