For the second straight Tuesday, Arkansas’ 2027 football recruiting class takes another big hit in the rankings as Marion (Ark.) running back Jeremy Dent announced his decommitment from Ryan Silverfield and the Razorbacks.
Dent, 6-0, 200, had been verbally committed to the state Hogs since May 2, when he opted to stay home against Ole Miss, Auburn, Miami and Vanderbilt, Arkansas’ opponent for Saturday’s 6 p.m. game in Nashville (Tenn.).
With Dent’s decommitment, Arkansas’ class moves from 37th nationally and 15th in the SEC to 42nd nationally while edging out Mississippi State in the conference race.
Dent suffered a season-ending injury in the season opener after totaling 282 all-purpose yards on the night. According to 247Sports, he was the Razorbacks’ fifth-highest commit with an overall grade of 88, making him the No. 50 running back in the country and the No. 2 player in the Natural State.
Last Tuesday, the Razorbacks lost a commitment from three-star ’86 receiver Darion Moseley of Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson following a recent push from Northwestern and others. The Hogs also got a push from Louisville and others for the commitment of four-star wide receiver Jabari Watkins from Thomasville (Ga.) Thomas County.
Arkansas’ 22 remaining commitments include nine on offense, including Watkins, Auburn (Ala.) quarterback Cason Myers, Clarksville (Tenn.) Kirkwood tight end Parker Keenan and five offensive linemen in Overland Park (Kan.) Blue Valley North tackle Alijah Shaw, Hendersonville (Tenn.) tackle Teagan Parizek, Seffner (Fla.) Armwood tackle Judah Gumbs, Sheridan (Ark.) interior lineman Bradley Sturdivant and Rogers (Ark.) interior offensive lineman Henry Frazier.
The defensive commitments include three defensive linemen in Garden City (Kan.) Garden City CC’s Mahonri Maiava, Jonesboro (Ark.) Valley View tackle Eli Thornton and Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Riverdale lineman James Stewart, as well as an edge rusher in Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville’s Keith Richmond, Fayetteville (Ark.) linebacker Will Caston, Bridge City (Texas) linebacker Will Caston. Bryce Breeden, and five total. The defensive backs are cornerback Kevin Grant of Arlington (Texas) Martin, cornerback Stanley Peters Jr. of Seminary (Miss.), cornerback John Catlin IV of Denton (Texas) Ryan, safety Rashaad Silver of Decatur (Ga.) Columbia and safety Jameer Cantrell of Buford (Ga.).
The Razorbacks also hold two verbal commitments from kicker specialist Rocco DePrima of Columbia (Mo.) Rock Bridge and punter Declan Hamm of Lewisville (Texas).
HawgSports will have more to come, including a VIP reminder of the running back targets who visited the Razorbacks in June as potential sophomore additions to the class.
