Arsenal is getting serious about signing Como star

Following reports that Jacobo Ramon does not want to return to Real Madrid, Arsenal are stepping up their interest in the defender, according to AS. Madrid have a buy-back clause in his contract, which gives them an option to bring him back, but the Gunners are still exploring whether they can secure an agreement for his permanent move.

Arsenal have identified Ramon as a leading defensive target, although they understand that Real Madrid’s clause complicates any potential deal. The Spanish club could still influence his future, even if the player prefers to continue his career elsewhere.

Several players who have left Madrid for Como have been open to returning to the Spanish giants. Nico Paz, who is also admired by Arsenal, is one example. However, Ramon believes it would be difficult to secure regular playing time at Madrid and does not want to move back to the club.

Arsenal Step Up Interest

Ramon instead wants to focus on developing his career elsewhere, and the report claims Arsenal have understood his position. The Gunners are now looking to reach an agreement to add him to their squad as soon as possible.

Arsenal look at Ramon as a high-quality defender and recognize that other clubs could also attempt to sign him during the next transfer window. That has encouraged the Gunners to move quickly, particularly because continued interest could make the competition for his signature more difficult.

The club’s interest reflects its desire to strengthen the defense with a player who can improve over time. Ramon is already gaining valuable experience at Como, and Arsenal believe that his development could prepare him for the demands of the Premier League.

Ramon Could Challenge Saliba

By the end of the season, Ramon should be a more mature defender and may be ready to compete with players such as William Saliba for regular playing time. That does not guarantee an immediate starting role, but it would give Arsenal another talented option in defense.

The buy-back clause remains a significant complication, and Real Madrid could still decide to exercise it. Nevertheless, Ramon’s reported preference to remain away from the Spanish club may strengthen Arsenal’s position as they seek to complete a deal.
