The HBO series “Harry Potter” has cast another spell.
Harry Gilby, Jasper Talbot and Hannah Chinn joined the cast as Charlie Weasley, James Potter and Lily Potter, respectively. The actors will appear in season 1 of the series, called “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”.
James and Lily Potter, parents of the titular orphan wizard, appeared in the “Harry Potter” films in flashbacks, photographs and magical manifestations. Charlie Weasley is a minor character in the books and does not appear in the films, so the HBO series moves away from the films concerning Ron Weasley’s older brother.
The first season of the television series “Harry Potter” will premiere on HBO on December 25. The second season, based on the second book in JK Rowling’s beloved fantasy series, ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’, is currently filming at Leavesden Studios, outside London.
The season 1 logline reads: “There’s nothing special about Harry Potter – or so his Aunt Petunia tells him. But when a mysterious acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry arrives, it opens the door to a hidden world of magic, friendship and adventure. Yet behind the enchanted walls of Hogwarts lie dark secrets. Harry must find the courage to prove himself against the darkest wizard of them all.

“Game of Thrones” favorite Kit Harington will join season 2 as Gilderoy Lockhart alongside Bonnie Hill as Ginny Weasley, Lenny Rush as Dobby, Billy Barratt as Tom Riddle, Rafe Spall as Arthur Weasley, Molly Hewitt-Richards as Moaning Myrtle and Jasper Ambrose as Colin Creevey.
The “Harry Potter” series is written and produced by Francesca Gardiner. Mark Mylod will produce and direct several episodes of the series for HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television. The series is executive produced by Rowling, Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, David Heyman of Heyday Films, Laura Neal and Jon Brown.
