Main Rumor: WWE AEW Counterprogramming
A few John Cena updates spark the rumors of the week, but they’re mostly focused on WWE and its continued counter-programming of AEW.
Dave Meltzer mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio that the idea behind Cena coming to NXT next week was because “they didn’t want to go there and get humiliated or anything.” Cena is one of their biggest draws, so he’s being used not necessarily to win the night but to ensure they don’t lose badly to one of AEW’s most popular shows. Blood and guts.
Cena will also appear on Monday Night Raw this week, where he is expected to announce details for the John Cena Classic. Meltzer told The Daily Update that December 19 was the preferred date, with Fightpalooza And CCM which will take place on December 12. This would confront him with End of the world.
It is possible that this takes place on December 5, but that would not fit with recent history. We’ll probably know one way or another by the end of Raw this week.
