The Ravens have completed their trade for 11-year veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett, hoping he can elevate an offense that has gone cold without an injured Lamar Jackson.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Ravens traded a 2027 fourth-round pick and a 2028 seventh-round pick in exchange for Brissett and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
The Cardinals also paid more than half of Brissett’s remaining salary to complete the trade, according to Ian Rapoport of the ESPN/NFL Network.
Brissett is expected to start next Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Brissett, 33, has made 73 starts in his career, playing for seven different teams. He started the Cardinals’ first eight games and was on pace to throw for over 3,600 yards before being demoted to third behind Gardner Minshew II and rookie Carson Beck.
The Ravens wouldn’t close the door on Jackson (thumb) potentially returning this season, but Tyler Huntley (toe) would miss the rest of the year.
After facing three of the NFL’s best teams (Bengals, Bills, Jaguars) in back-to-back weeks, the Ravens will play four straight games against teams that currently boast losing records (Chargers, Panthers, Texans, Buccaneers).
The Ravens have lost four straight and been held under 14 points in four straight games for the first time in franchise history. The biggest factor has been injuries at quarterback, with undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano playing most of the last two games.
“We need all hands on deck,” running back Derrick Henry said. “I feel like (Brissett) can come in and help us. We’ll be happy to have him and see where it takes us.”
The hope is that Brissett’s arrival can help stabilize the offense and win games. However, the Ravens know that Brissett’s arrival won’t solve all of their problems.
“He’s going to bring his experience and all the time he’s been in the league. I think that will bode well for us,” veteran left tackle Ronnie Stanley said. “But there are a lot of things we need to fix on our end. I don’t think anyone can come in and fix all the problems.”
