Jeremiah Smith erupts on Ohio State sideline amid blowout against Oregon

Life has been different for the Ohio State Buckeyes star receiver Jeremiah Smith on the field lately without star quarterback Julian Sayin.

A seemingly frustrated Smith was seen expressing his displeasure toward the No. 12 Buckeyes sideline after making a catch late in the third quarter of Saturday’s game against the No. 23 Oregon Ducks. at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

The Ducks were blowing out Ohio State on the Buckeyes’ home court, which apparently compounded Smith’s frustration at not getting enough looks on offense.

It wasn’t clear what Smith was telling his team, but he sure didn’t look happy.

Ohio started freshman Luke Fahey for the second straight game with Sayin out with an arm injury, and that quarterback situation is having a notable impact on the Buckeyes, who have now lost two games in a row and are unlikely to make the College Football Playoff.

The Buckeyes’ offense is simply less potent with Fahey under center than it is with Sayin, even with the ultra-talented Smith, but that’s the situation Ohio State faces.

Smith still finished with 133 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven catches against the Ducks, but Ohio State ended up losing to Dan Lanning’s team, 41-28.
