AHS Season 13 Episode 7 and 8 Explained: Angela Bassett Returns as Marie LaVeau

At this point, the witches are running around like headless chickens, so Madison takes charge of their battle plan. As she reminds everyone, now that Cordelia is dead, someone has to be promoted to Supreme.

Or East is she dead? Madison is convinced that Morwena can bring Cordelia back, despite the young witch’s insistence that she doesn’t have that kind of power.

Meanwhile, Mallory confronts Richard Ramirez, showing him – and reminding viewers – just how powerful she is. Rather than kill him, Mallory sends him back in time, to the very neighborhood he terrorized; he instantly encounters an angry mob who beat him until he is beaten to a pulp. Ophelia is gagged by Mallory’s apparent time-traveling abilities, but she promises to keep them a secret from the others.

But our favorite kill of the night, surprisingly, comes from Coco, who uses her glucose-sensing power to sense that the Zodiac Killer is “two gummy bears before going into diabetic ketoacidosis.” Coupled with Queenie’s mirror power, she is able to eat a piece of chocolate and increase his glucose to the point of killing him. Again.

Then comes the moment we’ve all been waiting for: Fiona’s arrival. “Cordelia, my mother’s house! she said as she walked through Miss Robichaux’s doors, only to discover her daughter lying dead at the foot of the stairs.

Fiona demands to know who did this to her little girl, and James Patrick March finally stops playing the damn piano long enough to take credit for Cordelia’s disappearance. James tries to convince Fiona that they’re on the same side, but she’s not an idiot. In her words, she is “the wickedest witch of all”, and she proves it by killing James with her own men. Under his command, Dahmer, Ramirez and the Zodiac Killer are brought back from the dead and cut James into pieces.

Fiona requests some alone time with Cordelia, which she uses to whisper a spell that brings her daughter back to life. “Mother, is that you?” asks Cordelia, which is pretty much how we imagine anyone would greet Jessica Lange. “You need to get your strength back,” Fiona replies. “We have a lot of work to do. When things fall apart, we have to try to rebuild the world – this nasty, nasty world.”
