WASHINGTON, DC — The Rangers’ season unfolded before everyone’s eyes in one fell swoop.
Goaltender Igor Shesterkin fell flat to the ice after trying to return to the slot as the Rangers defended the Capitals’ power play during the second period Friday night at Capital One Arena.
The Russian star goalkeeper, who has been electric early in the season, banged his right leg against the post as he returned to the crease to defend the play in front of him.
His leg appeared to bend awkwardly during the sequence.

Without putting weight on his right leg, Shesterkin had to be helped off the ice.
The Rangers were tied 1-1 with the Capitals at the time of the incident.
Rookie Dylan Garand replaced Shesterkin in goal.
